Holocaust
Survivor to Speak Here
"Nie Mehr"
"Never Again"
March 14,
2008 @ 10 am
The library is bringing a Holocaust survivor to speak to our student body on
March 14th. We will be coordinating most of the preparation activities for
this visit through the history classes. It is a great honor to have
Mr. Steinbetz come and share his story with our teachers and students. The
Holocaust survivors' slogan is "Never Again", and it is important for our
teachers to help make our students aware of the implication of this slogan.
More information and preparation packets will be available closer to time for
the visit. Feel free to offer any ideas that you may have concerning this
educational opportunity.

A
Great Start!
Donations
and a Grant for the Library
Our year is off to a great start! We have had a combined total of more
that 2000 dollars worth of books donated to the library by Margie Powell and
Denise King this year. We continue to receive book donations from our
students and their families. Please encourage your students to donate
their gently used read books to the library. This really helps our
collection, and this is considered a tax deductible donation.

Operation
Round-Up
Operation Round-Up gave us a grant in the amount of $328 for the history
DVD/VHS collection update. These videos have just arrived. They
include the following:
Athens: Dawn of Democracy
America Rebuilds
The Spartans
Conquistadors
Julius Caesar's Rome
Jesse James
The Way West
JIHAD-the Men & Ideas
The Roman empire in the 1st Century
Japan: Memoirs of a Secret Empire
Napoleon
The Hidden Child
Wal-mart
Distribution donated a 27" television and two DVD/VHS players to the
library. These players will be ready for checkout on Friday. We are
getting a cart for the new television, and we will then be ready to checkout the
tv.

$$$$$
Recycling $$$$$
Thanks to all of you and Wal-Mart Distribution Center, we now have a $900
credit with our recycling company. The library should be receiving this
check next week. Our recycling program is great for helping the
environment and providing extra funds for the library. As you were told
earlier this year, there are few items that are allowed for purchase with
library enhancement funds other than books, videos, computers, programs, and
other computer compatible accessories. Please take time to encourage your
students and their families to participate in this program. Recycling
pays!
Puzzles,
Puzzles, and More Puzzles
We have a mind boggling puzzle, in the library, for individuals to try. At
the present time, Blake G. holds the record of most times and quickest time
putting it together. We also have a jigsaw puzzle that is currently a
community effort. Students are welcome to help on this at break.

Copyright
Laws
If you were not here when we gave out the copyright guide sheets, please let
me know that you did not receive yours. We have a new book on copyright
laws in our professional development section to answer any questions that you
may have concerning this subject.
