READING INCENTIVE SCHOLARSHIP

The Cold Springs High School Reading Incentive Scholarship is a $750 scholarship that will be offered to each senior class for four years beginning this year with the senior class of 2009.  This scholarship will be based on AR points accumulated beginning this year.  Points for those competing for the scholarship will carry over from year to year except for those graduating this school year.  The recipient for this year's graduation class will be based on points from this school year only.

1) Students should sign in the AR Scholarship Folder prior to taking a test that they wish to count toward the scholarship competition. Books read for class may be counted toward the scholarship competition.

2) The test must be taken in the presence of Mrs. Bailey, Mrs. Duncan, or a faculty member in the library.

3) Points that are counted toward the scholarship will be verified with the student sign-ins in the AR Scholarship Folder.  Points for books may be in the 5th grade level and up as long as the book is rated at a higher interest level.  Example: Nicholas Sparks books fall into this category.

4) The literacy team: Mr. Hood, Mr. Calvert, and Mrs. Bailey will validate the verified results to determine the scholarship winner.

5) In the event of a tie for pints, the students' points will be averaged and the one with the highest average will be awarded the scholarship.

* Students in grades 9-12 may start collecting points toward this scholarship this year.
