My classes this year are Academic Lab,
Employment English, Essential Math, & Algebraic Explorations. Students are placed in Academic Lab in order
to provide them with extra time on campus to prepare for the Alabama High School
Graduation Exam. These students not only
complete practice exercises during class but are encouraged to practice outside
of class through borrowing books and visiting web sites. Students in Employment English, Essential
Math, and Algebraic Explorations are in a smaller class setting to provide
instruction which meets their individual needs.
Assignments are normally completed during class.
Future Teachers of Alabama
are students planning on entering college and majoring in education. Students
participate in activities which provide them with a snapshot of the teaching
profession. Members are required to pay
a $10 membership fee which includes a club t-shirt. The club’s ongoing fund raising activity is
cleaning classrooms after school for a $10 donation to the FTA. The FTA meets twice a month before school to
discuss topics that are relevant to the teaching profession.
