The Special Education Department is here to provide services to those students that have academic, emotional, mental, or physical disabilities.

Larry Creel

Mr. Creel is a three-veteran of the U.S. Navy.  After the Navy, Mr. Creel joined the Alabama Army National Guard.  Before becoming a teacher, Mr. Creel work with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

 Mr. Creel has been an educator for 29 years, spending one year at the Child Development Center, five years in elementary, ten years in  junior high, and presently working at the high school.

Mr. Almond is a native of North Carolina.  He retired from the United States Army after serving for 21 years.  Mr. Almond began his military career with the 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and finished with Headquarters, U.S. Army Air Traffic Control Activity, Fort Rucker, Alabama.  Mr. Almond has held positions with commercial airlines in Virginia, the Pentagon, and as an Air Traffic Controller.  He has been teaching at Hanceville High School since August 2004.
