Accelerated Reader is a computer based reading/testing program that we use at WPE to encourage reading for fun.  Students are allowed to select books they are interested in reading.  They are encouraged to stay within a reading range determined by testing scores at the beginning, middle, and end of each school year.  Optimum learning occurs when children read books that are slightly challenging for the student.  Books that are too easy or books too challenging are strongly discouraged.  We have a large library collection of Accelerated Reader books for the children to read.  Tests may be taken throughout our school, on any computer.

Our current instructional reading program (McGraw Hill) has furnished us with Accelerated Reader tests on all stories in the student readers.  Many teachers use these test scores as a reading score showing the child's comprehension of the story.  Many teachers also encourage or require the students to obtain a set amount of points each grading period.

Our Accelerated Reader Data base is very large.  Due to parent request we are making the list available. We will update the list twice each year (summer and midyear break).

We have over 8000 tests divided into several pages, alphabetically listed.   However, be aware that it may take several minutes to download each page due to the enormous size of the book lists.
