New Principals

Superintendent Dr. Shane Barnette is recommending Ashley Uhrig as the next principal of Good Hope Primary School and Danny Weaver as principal of Holly Pond Middle School.

Ashley Uhrig has worked for Cullman County Schools for 12 years. She currently serves as Assistant Principal at Good Hope Primary and Good Hope Elementary. She has taught Kindergarten and 1st Grade at Good Hope Primary, then served as Reading Specialist at Good Hope Elementary before entering administration.

Uhrig holds an Educational Specialist degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, and a  Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership.

“It is with heartfelt gratitude and great excitement that I step into the role of principal at Good Hope Primary School. After serving as assistant principal, I am deeply honored to continue this journey with the Good Hope family. It’s a Great Day to be a Raider!”

Danny Weaver will become the principal of Holly Pond Middle School following the separation of Holly Pond K-8 into distinct elementary and middle schools. The schools were previously combined due to low enrollment, but recent growth has prompted Cullman County Schools to seek and receive state approval and funding to hire a dedicated principal for grades 6–8.

Weaver currently serves as assistant principal of Holly Pond K-8. He has worked for the system for 11 years, also serving as an instructional aide and elementary teacher.

Weaver is a graduate of Wallace State, Athens State, and earned both his Master’s and Educational Specialist degrees in administration from Auburn University at Montgomery.

“I am so excited about the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community as the new principal of Holly Pond Middle School,” said Weaver. “Holly Pond is a very special place where everyone supports and looks out for one another, and I could not be more proud to call it home. I would like to thank Dr. Barnette, Mr. Hays, and the entire board for trusting me with this opportunity.”

Pending board approval, Uhrig and Weaver will assume their new roles effective July 1, 2025.
